South London, built around the 220-acre Common. Busy high street, plenty of pubs and restaurants, and the Northern line straight into the City and West End.
South-west London, quieter than Clapham. Wimbledon Village sits above the town centre, with the Common on its doorstep and the All England Club nearby.
Alongside Clapham and Wimbledon we let apartments in Maida Vale and by the river near Cannon Street, and we add neighbourhoods as we take on new flats. Area guides exist for Clapham and Wimbledon so far.
Both are south of the river with a large common and a direct run into central London. They feel quite different.
| Clapham | Wimbledon | |
|---|---|---|
| Atmosphere | Busy and social. Bars and restaurants along the high street, lively at weekends. | Quieter and more village-like, especially uphill in Wimbledon Village. |
| Transport | Northern line from Clapham Common, Clapham North and Clapham South. Clapham Junction for National Rail. | District line, National Rail and London Trams all meet at Wimbledon station. |
| Green space | Clapham Common, around 220 acres, with ponds and open playing fields. | Wimbledon Common is far larger and more wooded, with Cannizaro Park alongside. |
| Best for | Short city breaks, nights out, and getting into the City or West End quickly. | Families, longer stays, and anyone who wants somewhere calmer to come back to. |
